Monica shows us what a fervent and faithful prayer life can do.

Her son, Augustine was wayward; a rebel and a troublemaker and St. Monica prayed tirelessly for his conversion.

She prayed for most of her life, weeping for the conversion of her husband Patricius who was a violent and abusive man, her rebellious son Augustine, and her mother in law.

She was known for virtues such as prayer, alms & deeds.

Her husband eventually converted and then died a year later.

Because of her tears, prayers, and sacrifices over many years; her wayward son, Augustine, converted to Christianity and became a saint.

For all those parents whose adult children’s Catholic faith is either lukewarm or apostatized, we ask St. Monica to intercede & pray for them & for us parents to persevere in our prayers for them.

St Monica, model of patience, perseverance and prayer, patron saint of conversions, widows, married women, difficult marriages, single-parent households, victims of abuse, mothers, victims of domestic violence, wayward and disappointing children, pray for us.
