The symbolism/significance of the dreamcatcher is beautiful and brilliant. The motif of the dreamcatcher was first introduced in the very first Captain Swan-centric episode ever, back when Hook was just introduced to the show.
Fast forward to Season 5 and Emma has now used a magic dreamcatcher to hide the nightmare of what she did to/for Hook. She’s holding on to the dream of her and Killian together, happy, and safe in their own home. It’s all of that and her love for him that has fuelled her desire and determination to rid herself [and now her true love too] of the darkness.
