so like, is stimming a trendy aesthetic thing now all these “stim boards” that are just glittery slime and soft toys…it’s basically the same as the “gluten free to lose weight :)))” trend and is kinda disregarding the people that can’t control their stimming or have non-cute stims (flapping, rocking, making noise, etc) so like…continue with the aesthetic all you want (i, a disabled person, get to see visual stims!) but at least keep in mind that this is the bare surface of stimming (aka the part that’s considered socially acceptable)

tldr stimming isn’t just an aesthetic or a trend it’s a thing that disabled people get a lot of ridicule for and it shouldn’t have to be divided into “aesthetic” and “socially weird/unacceptable”

    I thought the earth
    remembered me, she
took me back so tenderly, arranging
    her dark skirts, her pockets
full of lichens and seeds. I slept
    as never before, a stone
    on the riverbed, nothing
between me and the white fire of the stars
but my thoughts, and they floated
light as moths among the branches
of the perfect trees. All night
I heard the small kingdoms breathing
around me, the insects, and the birds
who do their work in the darkness. All night
I rose and fell, as if in water, grappling
with a luminous doom. By morning
I had vanished at least a dozen times
    into something better.
