xiao brain rot at 2 AM caused me to write this (sorry this is really short TT)

    | genshin impact w/female reader

    | xiao

    | very short fluff

a quiet sigh left your lips upon waking up, your eyes slowly adjust to the light that runs through your window as you calmly breath in the warm herbal sent of the inn. your bed was soft, almost too soft to wake up from but unfortunately there were many things you had to do today.

    “did you sleep well?”

a voice startles you and you swear you almost jumped six feet in the air, your eyes snap open at the familiar voice that asks about your rest. xiao leans elegantly on the door with his stern face being beautiful as ever, his arms crossed and dark hair shining in the light. a sight like this is surely one for the archons.

you manage to let out a hum and close your eyes again, as much as you’d like to stare at him a little while longer your eyes betray you as they feel heavy yet again. you hear light footsteps before a pain registers on your face, you flinch and open your eyes as you realize what just happened; xiao flicked you.

he lets out a soft scoff as he speaks once again, telling you to get up his voice sounds so gentle and so warm that it makes you even sleepier. you feel the tips of his fingers trace your face and his gaze is easily recognizable despite your eyes shutting out the light. the tinge of sharp golden hues is unmistakable and the silence does all the talking... not that xiao was much for words in the first place.

stopping for a moment, he lets out a sigh in defeat and decides to let you be. as much as he knows you have things to do, you deserve rest and your sleeping state is a beautiful sight to see, though he would never admit to thinking that. he feels calm in your presence as a sudden fatigue washes over him, one in which he hasn’t felt in centuries.

he allows himself to get into the bed and lay down beside you, strongly holding you by the waist in his grip as his relaxes under your warmth and smiles in content before drifting off into sleep.

i have this written forever idk why i’m just now polishing and posting it lmao, whoopsies?

I think we all agree that there needs to be a serious conversation with Yang about her self sacrificial tendencies at this point, but I’ve been thinking more about why exactly she feels like her life isn’t as important.

My first thought went to Jaune during the battle at Haven, where he tells Cinder that as long as he dies buying the rest of them time it’ll be worth it. Now I don’t think this is Yang’s thought process, but I think there might be something similar going on.

During their talk at Mountain Glenn, Yang is the only person without a personal drive. Ruby wants to be a hero, Weiss wants to undo the damage of her father, and Blake wants to fight for equal rights for Faunus. But Yang just wants the adventure, and even though she knows that’s who she is, she almost seems insecure about that. She’s grown into the role of a true huntress as time has gone on, but the beginning of Volume 8 showed us that she’s still more of a smaller-picture-oriented individual than her teammates. I wonder if there’s a small part of her that feels like her teammates are more important because of their bigger picture goals (“do you think she thinks less of me”).

Unfortunately, Yang has never really had the chance to find something just for her. She’s always been the protector, the one that takes the hits, the one that’s always left behind. It’s not that she needs to change and find that goal, but somebody needs to talk to her and tell her that having different goals doesn’t make her any less important than the rest of them.

Anyway, I think there’s been a lot of build up for a genuine intervention of sorts about her various self destructive tendencies. I think the fall will be the breaking point, with either Blake or all of RWB talking to her when they reunite (Burning the Candle part 2 please).

through my tears i am also looking to whiterose to give me slight happiness because PLEASE… WEISS SWOOPING IN LIKE THAT TO SAVE RUBY AND ROCK NEO’S SHIT, HELPING HER UP AND PUSHING HER OUT OF HARM’S WAY OF THE FIRE, GIVING HER THE STAFF TO KEEP SAFE FOR THE MOMENT AND WITH RUBY’S DISTRAUGHT FACE IM JUST !!!

I LOVE THEM SO MUCH I HATE WHAT HAPPENED TO WEISS HERE CAUSE SHE GOT HURT BUT I LOVE MY BABIES ACTUALLY INTERACTING HERE THANK YOU

Can I maybe ask for g/n reader comforting Kaeya and Xiao after a nightmare hc?

BOTH OF THEM DESERVE A HUG T_T

(btw I've been wondering how many characters are you willing to do per ask?)

a/n: THEY ABSOLUTELY DO, I WANT TO HUG THEM SO BAD. i realized you said hcs after i already wrote them so i hope you’re okay with short scenarios instead, omg. also no more than 3 characters please, i currently have one request with more which i’ll do since i forgot to add that to my pinned, thanks for reminding me!

WARNINGS: spoilers for Kaeya and Xiao’s backstories

gn!Reader Comforting Kaeya and Xiao After a Nightmare

    Kaeya:

“The time has come, Kaeya. You can’t run forever. Which will you save, Khaenri’ah or Mondstadt?”

The mysterious voice booms, causing Kaeya to shake with fear.

“I... I can’t choose. You can’t make me do this!” He yells.

“Then you shall pay the price.”

Kaeya jolts awake, a bead of sweat dripping down his forehead as he breathes heavily. Thank the Archons, he thinks, it was just a dream. His sudden movement had awoken you, however, and you sat up as you rubbed your eyes.

    “Kaeya? Are you okay?”

“Ah, yes, darling. Just a silly nightmare. Go back to sleep.”

You can tell that Kaeya’s still upset, though. He’s shaking, for Archons’ sake. Wordlessly, you pull him into your arms, stroking his back gently. You’re not sure what the nightmare was about, and you don’t think it’s the time to ask; Kaeya was hesitant to tell you about his life and past, and you had accepted that fact, knowing that he’d open up to you when he was ready. So instead of pushing him to tell you, you know the best course of action is to silently provide the support you know he needs.

After a while of you quietly holding Kaeya and rubbing his back, he looks up at you.

“Thank you, my love. I appreciate you more than I can say.”

    Xiao:

The many souls of the ones Xiao had killed long ago surround him, crying and screaming out for help. He’s helpless to them, knowing that he’s the one who had caused their pain. He so desperately wishes he could save them, but he knows he can do nothing.

You’re awoken by Xiao laying next to you, still asleep but clearly struggling. He writhes around, whimpering as his nightmare continues to torment him.

“Xiao,” you call softly, “Xiao, please wake up. It’s okay.”

His eyes slowly open, but it takes him a moment to realize he’s awake and that that horrid situation was only a dream.

“...I’m sorry to have woken you. I hope I didn’t cause too much trouble for you. Please get some rest.”

You know that one of Xiao’s greatest fears is pushing his bad karma onto you, but you refuse to let those thoughts consume him. You wrap your arms around him, an action which lets him know that you’ve got him and you’re never going to let him struggle alone.

He hugs you back tightly, burying his face in your shoulder. He’s suffered so much throughout the years, and it comforts him greatly to finally have someone to genuinely care for him.

“...You mean so much to me. Thank you.”

Hii <33 May I request dancing hc or scenario for Xiao ? It has been slightly implied that he liked to dance (he hopes that one day he'll wear his mask to dance and not to slay), so what if he sees his s/o dancing near the dihua lake when they thought nobody was watching ?

❝calming for the heart, soothing for the soul❞

    Word count: 908

A/N: Anon, when I saw your request I dropped everything to prioritise this. Mainly because I was planning on using this idea in the first place (great minds think alike amirite). So thank you for giving me a reason to actually start writing this!! I sort of went overboard with this because I've been having ideas for a while hehe..

Xiao holds his mask in his hand, thumb swiping its side.

This. It was often an omen to his enemies. One look at it on the battlefield and it is as good as their life flashing before their very eyes. How he wishes it could mean something else.

The night wind, cold and sharp, skims his shoulders in an abrupt attempt to interrupt. He finds his mind wandering to where you were. Although he has told you that he was not coming tonight, he worries if you were safe. He always does.

It doesn't take long for Xiao to find you. He does not approach you right away, rather keeping his distance, observing the vicinity atop a tree. Yes, you picked a good spot, he thinks. He could not see a monster for miles.

The adeptus stands to leave, for fear that you would not like his sudden appearance after telling you to not expect it, but your movements caught his eye, stilling him.

Intrigued, he crouched back on the branch, an arm over one knee. He tells himself he'll stay awhile. It was dark, the only sources of light were the street lanterns and the moon, surely it would be safer for you if he kept watch. No one would dare harm you with him a few leaps away. It was definitely not because you looked ethereal dancing like that.

However, the routine looked incomplete. After all, what was a dance without music? Without thinking it over or at all, Xiao pulls out the flute that he carries. He was not as avid of a player as the melodies he once heard, but he was decent enough as to not agitate the spirits, so it should be fine.

The first few notes, he could see, startles you. You turn around and look up, smiling when your eyes lock. Xiao's heart misses a beat, but his flute does not. You continue to move, his mind comparing you to flowing water. Cool, calm, graceful, fluid. If he were to be a worthy enough deity, this would be his worship of choice.

A moment passes and Xiao's score comes to an end. You finish with a delicate step, before looking up once more and applauding.

"Won't you come down, oh stranger? You carry such a pretty tune," you tease.

He tucks the instrument behind him. Originally wanting to leave without a sound. Now that that's out the window, he guesses he couldn't just slip away.

"It is dangerous to be so careless at night," he stands still as you come closer to kiss him on the cheek.

"Ah come on, I already made sure the area was safe," you straighten his clothes, then bend down to pick up the shoes you discarded earlier.

"And besides, if I were in any mortal danger, I could just call for you right?"

    Well he couldn't deny that.

"Anyway," you start walking in front of him,"how was I?"

Xiao gives a nod, hoping you understand that he means approval.

    You do, and you smile.

He knows that you practice this traditional Liyuen dance once a year to perform in your village's festival. Similar to the harbor's Lantern Rite, except the lanterns were released in the water. Then, people with masks would dance to ward off evil spirits, and to encourage good fortune.

"You should join me. I'm not tired yet and the night is young!" You hold out your hands to reveal an orange, feline shaped mask with a dark blue ribbon, "look, I've even finished carving it today. You could put yours on and-"

"I will do no such thing."

    "Aw, but why?"

Xiao clenches his fists. He notices that you notice and tries to hide it. But it was too late.

"...not here, not now," he finally says.

"Hey, it's okay," you walk closer to him, matching his pace. "I'm sorry if I say anything insensitive...but I want to try to understand you."

"I do not wish to indulge in such pleasures, free art forms like that of dancing, I do not deserve to."

    "The music…" he continues,"is enough."

Xiao does not know why, but at that moment he really does not want to look at the expression you have on your face. He despises vulnerability and yet, you always never fail to make him spill out another pathetic thing about himself.

    Oh.

Maybe he fears it. Fears that the look on your face would be that of pity.

A warmth envelopes his hand, causing him to whip his face to you. You cup his cheek and he leans into your soft caress.

"I understand," you say softly. "You carry a heavy burden my love, and I want to be someone that you can lean on, not to make things heavier than they already are."

"Someday, in the near future or not, when you will be able to put that mask on and be free of your duties, perhaps we'll be able to dance to the flute amidst a sea of flowers."

Xiao does not know what to say, so he stays quiet. You truly are the one his heart belongs to, in this moment it is clearer than ever. How do you always know the exact words to calm his heart and to soothe his soul?

If there was one thing he did not deserve it was most definitely you.

I’m going to add Albedo and Xiao so that this is all the main ones I write for!

Under the cut since it’s smut.

    NSFW Morning After Recovery Headcanons

    Tartaglia:

-first when he wakes up he's going to be cuddly and suggestive towards you. He'll ask if you want to go for a soft round two to wake up fully

-Once he finds out how much the previous night effected your body though he'll ask what you need/want and go out of his way to get whatever it is/help you out

-take advantage of this you deserve it. You're probably the most in pain out of all of these options.

    Zhongli:

-I think he'll realize you're sore before you even wake up.

-In the mean time until you wake up he's going to get things ready to start once you're conscious. Bath supplies. Tea supplies. Heat pack. The works.

-He's also prepared mentally to carry you anywhere you need to go whether you like it or not.

    Diluc:

-He's gonna need guidance on what to do in this situation but he'll pick up on you being in pain quickly.

-If you try to hide it he'll call you out and fuss over you even more than if you'd just let him know originally.

-You get a lot of soft kisses in apology!

-He'll get you some breakfast in bed and carry you to a nice bath after, helping bathe you himself so you don't have to move as much as possible

    Kaeya:

-One of the few to get you a healer.

-he'll completely skirt around the issue when they ask what happened to you. He'll say something vague like "We may have gone overboard on training yesterday."

-He'll be extra careful with you until you're feeling better

-Gets you something from good hunter as an extra treat in apology

-Is basically at your beck and call the whole day.

    Albedo:

-One of the few to get you a healer.

-He won't even try to hide the reason you need one. They're an adult they can handle knowing why a patient needs help.

-he'll approach this from as much of a practical way as possible but he'll still also be clingy and cuddle the morning after like always

-Just all sorts of perfect solutions to each pain and problem to help you heal as soon as possible

    Xiao:

-Help him he doesn't know what to do

-He'll kind of be a nervous mess

-Will ask constantly if there's anything you need and says sorry a lot

-He at least has some medical knowledge from getting hurt all the time so he'll have things on hand to help with pain and won't need to leave to go get anything

So I was thinking about the scene with Ruby and Yang in the new episode, and how much it parallels the one in volume 3 ep 12.

In both scenes Yang and Ruby are in a moment of great difficulty and tension, and they react very differently.

In volume 3 we have Ruby trying to get close to Yang, trying to provide comfort, while Yang shies away, hides herself and almost never makes eye contact with her.

She’s harsh, angry and hopeless. Almost defeated. Ruby tells her there has to be a reason why things happened the way they did, and tries to think of their next step moving forward. But Yang is stuck in her pessimism and doesn’t know what to do, or rather doesn’t think there’s anything to be done at all.

In volume 8 on the other hand, Yang is the one running out to offer Ruby some comfort, while Ruby shuts down and closes in on herself, almost refusing to let Yang close.

This time around, she’s the one who seems to have lost all hope. She thinks what her and the others have done up to this point has been useless, and we see (possibly for the first time) that she doesn’t know what to do next. And it is now Yang who’s reminding her that they must keep trying and move forward.

Although in both cases they’re experiencing the same hardships and the same kind of heartbreak, they’re always ready to offer comfort and reassurance to the one who got hit the hardest.

    -

    I’m sorry I’m a sucker for parallels

    Birthday Wishes

Prompt: Xiao, Childe, Zhongli’s birthdays getting celebrated by gn!Reader with their astrological sign and traits.

    Word Count: 3.231

Warnings: A bit of spoilers and a tiny implication of something not exactly *cough* sfw *cough*

Author’s Note:  Some of the characters are cusps and I know not everyone knows what that is. Cusp is when you are born within the last or first few days of a sign and whatever sign was before or is after. You will see with Xiao’s as his birthday is in the last few days of Aries, before Taurus. Not everyone believes in cusps, however, I do since I discovered that I was born on one and I own a mix of both traits of the signs of the cusp.

This took me 5 hours to write. I hope you enjoy. If you want a part two, please feel free to let me know.

    Xiao

    Birthday: April 17th

    Zodiac: Aries-Taurus Cusp

Traits: Passionate, Independent, Honest, Loyal, Impulsive, Smart, Ambitious, Trustworthy, Stubborn

You didn’t want to do anything big for Xiao’s birthday because of how he isn’t that big of a fan of being around a lot of people unless he needs to be. The last thing you wanted to do was make your boyfriend feel anything negative on his birthday. You debated on just inviting maybe Verr, Zhongli, the Traveller and Paimon but when you thought about it again, you decided that maybe not all four. In the end, you decided to invite Zhongli and Verr for the small celebration.

When you confronted Xiao about celebrating it, he wasn’t up for the idea, saying how only mortals celebrate such a day. However, you wouldn’t let it slide, you thought everyone deserved to celebrate the day they were born, mortal or not, and you told this to your adeptus boyfriend. Xiao knew you wouldn’t change your mind so he finally gave in after a few days and agreed to it. Now, the day has finally arrived and you were looking forward to the small get together with everyone.

    Alatus' Weakness

Even the strongest, mightiest men carry with them their ultimate weakness. And when it is under the wrong hands, their power won't be enough to prevent them from crumbling... What is it? What was it that the Evil God took hold of that forced him to serve his evil deeds for years?

The Yaksha of the wind dances in fluid whirlwinds as the breeze makes its rounds over the plains, his lightness barely wrinkles the green grass underneath his uncovered feet as the robes he dons flutters behind him.

It was so beautiful, he looked so ethereal.

And when his spear finally settles in a sharp swing, the force manifests into harmless gusts that sweeps the pasture for a second before straightening up again. Alatus had always been an agile dancer. And everyone in the village knows of this.

He offers a slight bow and a smile upon your loud clapping, so giddy of the exclusive performance that you were lucky to witness. It was a treasure that every local wishes to see beyond the battles he fights. Men and women alike yet out of them all it was you who was graced with this blessing.

"Beautiful as always, Alatus!" Your wide smile was infectious and his grin grows the closer he comes to you, arms finding its way around your waist and across your back in a soft hug. The giddiness continues as you turned into a giggly mess from his special affection, reciprocating with a tackle of a hug.

"Did you miss me that much?" He was answered by wordless nuzzles to his chest, making him chuckle and pull you closer.

Alatus was a great and powerful spear dancer, and he had been protecting the village you two reside in ever since. Gods and beings trekked the world commonly and it was too dangerous even for stationary communities. More so for those who lack the Vision to fight in the first place.

He was one, if not the only one capable enough to protect everyone. And many times he would go beyond the parameter to exterminate threats before they became an issue. Most of the time he disappears for a while during this expedition and then return triumphant as the village people greet him and praise him for his hardwork.

But at the end of the day, he settles down in your quiet home where he engulfs you protectively in his arms. There you two would exchange your tales during the span of his expedition, and he would indulge you in a showcase of his dances as compensation for his absence. The highlight of your day.

"There seems to be higher activity in the surrounding territories regarding monsters and Gods," he introduces the topic as he picks up the nian gao with wooden chopsticks, munching the soft treat as you poured a cup of tea to match the snack. "The other villages are asking me to patrol their parameters for a few days to at least clear some of them."

"There's been disturbances around here too," you worriedly chewed at your own snack as you two sat by the veranda of your home, watching the whole of the village from your spot over the cliff. This must be one of the reasons he liked staying here too, an easy access and overseer to the whole area for his duties.

Alatus hums in agreement but continues eating. The way he chews his meal was a telltale sign that there's a worry gnawing at the back of his head. And you had the same worry, except much lighter than his.

The growing tension between the Gods of Teyvat spurs on more turmoil at the news of Celestia's sudden challenge over the archons. And with such offers and desperation, powerless humans and villages had been wiped recently courtesy of the war.

It was a matter that didn't really bother him nor the village, but somehow it came back to him tenfold in multitudes of worry. He has a gut feeling. But Alatus cannot make himself turn away from the pleas of the people that call his name for saving grace.

"Come home soon," your smile snapped him back to reality upon knowing that he wouldn't just leave the other villages behind.

Yet when he left, there was still a gnawing anxiety at the bottom of his stomach.

Alatus for once... had lost his grace for in his hand his spear shakes in unspeakable fear. In front of him beyond the cliff's edge is the blazing ruins of a village he protected for years, day and night diligently. Monsters and men ravaged what's left and he tries to push away the guilt of ignoring them when he rushed immediately to his home.

To where his home should be.

"Alatus," the towering figure turned around to face him and his pupils dilated at the image, muscles flexing to dash when its hand raises in a motion to stop him, tutting mockingly at the warning. "Ah, ah, you wouldn't want them to die like this, would you?"

The being of pure evil had your unconscious form in its arms, a fight evident on your bruised and cut form as blood trickles from your forehead to the earth beneath. And on your head, the source of the wound, is a crown of thorns. He fights the urge to cry and vomit at the state you were in, at the state he could have prevented if he'd just STAYED.

"Please," his broken voice ghosted a smile on the God's face, "Please leave them alone."

"I'm afraid I can't do that," Alatus' heart sinks at the refusal with his gaze unfocusing at the difference in power. "After all, they're the one I wanted in the first place, everyone else is just collateral damage."

From that point forward, to preserve the little life force you have, Alatus was under the grasp of the evil god. Under his command he razes the villages he once protected, eating the dreams of the humans that only wish to live in peace. His hands of grace grips his spear with the stains of blood as he kneels in front of the evil God, its name he didn't bother to remember anymore at this point.

It smirks at him while over its hand floats a cube only a few inches bigger. Your cell, where you're cooped up with only a glow of deep blue indicating your existence within it. When he misbehaves he hears cries of agony from it, when he does very satisfactory he even gets to hold it but only that.

The years of painful service had wiped off his smile and most of his memories. Alatus had already forgotten your voice and your face at this point, only the humans and beings he had killed comes to his memories.

Soon after, he has only known the cube to hold something dear to him, a weakness that is a precious one he could not risk. When he tries to remember, he's reminded of a vague visage and a sweet taste on his tongue. If he could cry now he would. It was one of the only good things in his mind now even tho its details continue to ebb away with his horrific deeds.

And finally, like a light that shines through the canopy of the overhead trees, a being mighty enough to contend his evil master comes down to end his suffering.

Rex Lapis, the Geo Archon, the one the evil god desperately tries to overthrow died in his hands.

It is done, all of it. No more innocent blood should stain his hands. "The cube this god possessed is a cell." What should he do now? There was no other place to come back to, maybe the You that resides in the cube had any ideas, to start over. That sounds like a good idea.

"Alatus, was it?" His head slowly picks up from the blank stare it had on the ground.

    "Yes, Rex Lapis?"

"Do you know of the one who resides within this cube?" There was a hesitance in Rex Lapis' voice that passed through him.

"They are someone that I know."

"It seems... that human... has perished 200 years ago in this cell."

Alatus, like that last day in a ruined village, had lost his grace when he collapses to the ground. His weakness and his hope both gone.

Say My Name and I’ll Be There:  8.4; Lantern Rite 3

X-Xiao…kissed me…?  You still couldn’t wrap your head around what just happened, even after he seemed to move on from the topic and sit back down on the viewing rock, his eyes casting a wonderous gaze at the lights that floated above the two of you.  You were unaware that his and your eyes had flashed their signature glow when he placed a kiss between your brows, signaling the official sealing of your bond with the adeptus.

So it’s sealed, Xiao made the conscious effort to keep his eyes on the lanterns while he thought to himself.  Her pain should subside now.  He could still hear the faint bustling of Liyue Harbor to the right of the cliff, and his lips twitched into a miniscule frown for a split second.  I won’t be able to hear her play music anymore.  His gaze flit to you, still recuperating from his touch and a deep shade of crimson.
