Inadvisable D&D magic item concept #137: cursed items, in the sense that the curse is intended to torment the item rather than its bearer.

#an intelligent weapon that insists it’s a pacifist #a hat that’s afraid of heights #a ring that requires attunement but has Commitment Issues (via @whats-ursine)

Okay, I was planning on following up with my own suggestions, but these honestly beat everything I could come up with. I giggled for like a minute straight at “a hat that’s afraid of heights”.

instead of killing characters off at random for shock value, may i propose a hip new trend: keeping characters alive at random for shock value. by all logic, this character should be dead. there’s no possible explanation for how they continue to shuffle ‘round this mortal coil. maybe we literally saw them die onscreen back in the passe era of shock value deaths. and yet, there they are. alive before our eyeballs.

brave space alliance in chicago is currently fundraising to expand their services and build facilities in their office space so that they can provide permanent housing for Black LGBT people and LGBT people of color, as well as continue to provide & expand their Crisis Pantry. they’re community led and in just the past month they’ve provided food & necessesities for 15,000 people in south and west chicago during the covid19 outbreak and the blm rebellions. they hope to raise $800,000 for these purposes: below is a link where you can donate either one time or set up a recurring donation, and also where they do a full breakdown of what the $800,000 will provide besides what i summarised in this post. please donate what you can and share!

youtube as a corporation may be evil but i do appreciate the thousands of people who upload guides and instructions and recipes and workouts for free. like they don’t even get paid unless they have over a certain amount of subscribers but they do it anyway so dumbasses like me can search ‘how to dice an onion’ and get thousands of videos with simple visual instructions and only like half of them are from big companies

He’s really not that bad, people are just mean

People make fun of “It was a dark and stormy night,” but you know what? He fucking established the scene in seven words. He didn’t prattle on for thirty pages about the fucking wallpaper, like some Victorians could.

“It was a dark and stormy night; the rain fell in torrents — except at occasional intervals, when it was checked by a violent gust of wind which swept up the streets (for it is in London that our scene lies), rattling along the housetops, and fiercely agitating the scanty flame of the lamps that struggled against the darkness.”

It straight up tells you what’s up. Here’s the weather, here’s the setting, God forbid you set a tone

Have you ever tried reading a Don DeLillo novel

Salty literature tumblr is a niche I live for

I reblogged this before, but fuck it. The man invented a phrase so good that it became overused by people echoing him. That’s not a sign of a bad writer.

It was a short and salty post

what really gets me about the argument that “americans are so selfish they can’t even care about others enough to stop the virus” is that we fucking did. the vast majority of americans, at great personal and financial cost to ourselves, went inside and distanced and took precautions and isolated and changed our lives to slow the spread and keep our loved ones and strangers safe. we did that for months, even when the government offered piss poor assistance and unemployment skyrocketed and food bank lines lengthened and the death counts climbed and parents with young children reached a breaking point, we still did it. the polling still shows that the vast majority of americans are more worried about easing restrictions too soon even if it hurts the economy. americans give a shit. we care. we made the sacrifices to give our government the time to figure out and implement a plan — to find a way to keep us safe and as healthy as possible and to use the power of the federal government to protect small businesses and feed our children and put a roof over our heads and create education campaigns to get people to socially distance and wear a mask for fucks sake. we did that, and at the end of months of sacrifice they decided that it wasn’t worth the trouble and have left us at the whims of our governors and local officials, left us at the mercy of our employers, left us to die.

americans aren’t selfish — our minority-rule government is — and it’s left us to die.

Undertale was full of raw ass lines and I’m sorry y’all are too chickenshit to acknowledge this because you’ve decided it’s cringy to like things

op is so right and here’s some evidence (not even a fraction of it all):

  • “I can’t go to Hell. I’m all out of vacation days.”
  • “Despite everything, it’s still you.”
  • “My brother’d really like to see a human, so it’d really help me out if you’d keep pretending to be one.”
  • “Don’t worry, my little monarch, my plan isn’t regicide. This is so much more interesting.”
  • “First, however, is as customary for those who make it this far… I shall tell you the tragic tale of our people. It all started, long ago… No. You know what? SCREW IT! WHY SHOULD I TELL YOU THAT STORY WHEN YOU’RE ABOUT TO DIE!”
  • “The more you kill, the easier it becomes to distance yourself. The more you distance yourself, the less you will hurt. The more easily you can bring yourself to hurt others.”
  • “If I were you, I would have thrown in the towel by now. But you didn’t get this far by giving up, did you? That’s right. You have something called ‘determination.’ So long as you hold on… so long as you do what’s in your heart…I believe you can do the right thing. Alright. We’re all counting on you, kid. Good luck.”
  • “I understand why Asgore took so long to hire a new royal scientist. The previous one… Dr. Gaster. His brilliance was irreplaceable. However, his life… was cut short. One day, his experiments went wrong, and… Well, I needn’t gossip. After all, it’s rude to talk about someone who’s listening.”
  • “You should be smiling, too. Aren’t you excited? Aren’t you happy? You’re going to be free.”
  • spindashez

yeah yeah sans undertale jokes but “its a beautiful day outside, birds are singing, flowers are blooming. on days like these, kids like you, should be burning in hell” is extremely raw

Undertale is just… More powerful than people give it credit for.

At some point people apparently small brained and decided to ignore how great it actually is.

basically emotional manipulation and guilt tripping as social justice praxis is pointless and not sustainable imo. it doesn’t promote real growth or solidarity if the entire basis of your activism is stemming from guilt or fear

i’m especially upset by the pressure to reblog things immediately without fact-checking, expressing doubt is considered betrayal of the cause, so a lot of bad info gets boosted in a hurry

    Found this on Facebook! BOOST!

    Tell Etsy that #ThisIsNotNative

This is why I stopped selling on Etsy. I got really sick and tired of all that nonsense.

Please support Native people!!!! In any way!!! Even if its spreading this good message around!!!!

    voxe-z

    there’s also salwaycc.com!!!

anyway while I think there is much to blame institutionally for the handling of the coronavirus, i think it is safe to say that american protestant individualism also played a fine role in this mess.

our culture does not value collective effort. we lack the empathy of caring about society as a whole. i am hearing people in public complain about others wearing facemasks. like the idea of caring about the health and safety of other human beings is mocked! like what kind of selfish heartless bullshit is this.

oh and this idea that we should sacrifice the “weak” is reflective of cultural idealologies such as Social Darwinism and Calvinsist theology on predistinaition. these ideologies are so prevelent in our cultural landscape and they perpetuate the notion that some people are inherently more deserving of life and salvation more than others.

i cannot express to you how much i do not want non-americans on this post giving their shit takes.

    Please pay attention to this

The ICE is THIS >< near of poisoning the detained immigrants with HDQ Neutral. It’s a highly harmful disinfectant if inhaled or swallowed. It is sprayed many times every day, almost every 15 minutes, which makes a total of about 96 times. None of the poeple that are detained there are given mask or glasses to protect them. Also, women have been getting raped and no one bats an eye, and more children’s have gone “mysteriously missing”. They like to pretend we don’t know that they go to child sex trafficking circles. They are using the disinfectant as a chemical weapon towards innocent people, they have been abusing them, raping them and killing them. This all happens behind closed door, thinking we are not going to find it out. Here it is a petition to help the people who are being slowly killed by this harmful chemical:

  • STOP ICE FROM POISONING IMMIGRANTS!
  • As a Jew, I have been worried about ICE for a while now. I started noticing scary similarities to the holocaust around the time when the news was covering children being separated from their parents- over a year ago. The parallels have only gotten clearer. People are being raped, gassed, tortured, and killed in there, with little hope of escape or help.

Some scary similarities to the concentration camps if the holocaust-

    Gassing people

    Separating parents and children

    Overcrowding

    Poor hygiene

    Poor food

Restricting outside access into the centers

Trump administration spreading propaganda against immigrants that is incredibly similar to antisemetic propaganda from nazi Germany

Please, please talk about this. Spread this. Let others know what’s happening to these innocent people. Tell your representatives that you will not allow this to continue. We need to abolish ICE. We need to save these people and find these children before they are killed outright. It is already too late for many of them. People have died. People have been traumatized and scarred for life. But it is in our power to help them, and we must. So please, don’t let this go unnoticed. Don’t be complicit. It doesn’t take long to hit reblog, and it could save lives.

Never Again Action is a wonderful organization dedicated to this cause- consider helping them out!
