Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez talks about not only her trauma but also the impact that it might have had on those of us who have experienced trauma.

    I am not someone who "stans" or whatever, and imo politicians are not celebrities and don't need that kind of fandom shit, but Alexandria really is someone who I admire. I don't always agree with her, but I think her empathy and courage is extremely uncommon.

    She's right - no matter what our traumas are, no matter if they are similar to what happened in the Capitol, no matter how "insignificant" we think they are, we can very easily be triggered by watching something like that happening.

    Mental healthcare is healthcare.

    (And also, maybe our leaders should think of this experience so they can understand the trauma we do to other countries when we violate their governments and right to self-determination and safety.)
