Szeles Erika Kornélia, a 15 year old anti communist fighter, photographed in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution.

She and an estimated 3,000 others were killed during the Revolution. It was a countrywide event against the Stalinist government of the Hungarian People's Republic and the Hungarian domestic policies imposed by the USSR. Initially anarchic, the Hungarian Uprising was the first major nationalist challenge to the Soviet Union's control of Hungary since the Red Army ended the Nazi occupation of Hungary at the end of the WW2.
