It seems NIS America is planning another collection of classic RPGs. People online discovered a Prinny Presents NIS Classics Vol. 2 website. People changed part of the address for the first installment’s page, which led to a new site with a countdown. On September 8, 2021, it will expire. [Thanks, Desma on Resetera and Stealth!]

The teaser site doesn’t offer any hints as to what could be in Prinny Presents NIS Classics Vol. 2. It only features the Disgaea series and NIS Prinny mascot spinning.

To remind everyone, the first Prinny Presents NIS Classics Vol. 1 debuted at the end of August 2021. It bundled together Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle Remastered and Soul Nomad & the World Eaters. Both are strategic RPGs that originated on the PlayStation 2. As noted in Siliconera’s feature on the collection, a second compilation could follow a similar pattern and include PS2 strategy games like Makai Kingdom and La Pucelle: Tactics. If PS1 games or PSP titles could be considered, titles like Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure or Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger VS Darkdeath Evilman might also be possibilities.

It appears Prinny Presents NIS Classics Vol. 2 will be announced on September 8, 2021. Prinny Presents NIS Classics Vol. 1 is available on the Nintendo Switch. People can also get Soul Nomad & the World Eaters on PCs via Steam.

NIS America has released a message from Nippon Ichi Software president Sohei Niikawa in celebration of the Disgaea series achieving five million sales.

In the message, Niikawa confirms that the Disgaea series will continue, but that it is too early to announce details.

A special website was also launched, featuring a character poll, retweet contest, merchendise sales, and Steam sale.

Get the full message from Niikawa, followed by a transcript, below.

Hello everyone, I am Sohei Niikawa from Nippon Ichi Software, and I am the producer and scenario writer for the Disgaea series.

    Thank you from NIS America

Thanks to all of our fans, the Disgaea series has sold over five million copies worldwide. We would like to thank all of our fans around the globe for making this achievement possible. We only had Japanese gamers in mind when we created the original Disgaea. But, we discovered that just as many fans—if not more—bought and enjoyed the game when it was released in the west, which allowed us to keep selling games for 20 years. Over that time, we have been able to surpass five million copies sold, and I can’t thank all of our fans out there enough.

Reflecting on 20 Years of Disgaea

For the original Disgaea, I wanted to pack everything I liked into a single game. While I was making it, I had no clue what would make it sell well. Because I didn’t know what to put in it, I tried to stuff it with everything that I liked. When I did that, the only setting for the game that made sense was the Netherworld. And by making the protagonist a demon, he would be free to do whatever he wanted. That is how Disgaea was born. With that kind of momentum going into it, I feel like it’s a miracle that it has lasted for 20 years. That was only possible thanks to the staff who worked on it, the media who supported us, the people at the shops who sold it, and—of course—most of all, to all the fans who bought it. I would really like to thank all of you.

    The Disgaea Sale

To celebrate surpassing five million sales, NIS America will be holding a sale on the Disgaea series. This is another way we would like to thank our fans. It is a great opportunity for not only our existing fans, but for new players who have never played the Disgaea series before, to get to play the games. Please look forward to it!

Please Look Forward to the Next Disgaea

We just released Disgaea 6, but I’m sure some of you are already wondering what’s next for the series. Of course, we’re planning to keep it going. Though I can’t really talk about when that may be, or what it’s going to be like yet, we would like to take into acount all of the feedback we’ve received about Disgaea 6 from players in America, Europe, Japan, Asia, and everywhere else, so that we can make sure everyone will enjoy the next one even more.

    Favorite Character Poll

I would also like to let you know that NIS America is holding a character poll on their Disgaea five million celebration website. Please go and vote! This will help us determine who we should include as bonus character, downloadable content characters, and who should make special appearances in future titles.

    Final Message to Our Fans

And finally, I would like to thank everyone once again. Because all of you, we were able to hit over five million copies sold in the 20 years of the Disgaea series. With everyone’s help, I would like Disgaea to continue to grow. In the next 25 to 30 years, it would be great to be able to celebrate 10 million sales with you. We look forward to everyone’s continued support for the Disgaea series. Thank you!

When Disgaea 6: Defiance of Destiny released in Japan, Hololive Vtuber DLC characters appeared too. Five people ended up added to the game. Ahead of their (free) debut, NIS America offered a better look at the group. A new Disgaea 6 Hololive DLC trailer shows off the English versions of their attacks.

As you might guess, this video is pretty similar to a Japanese one from February 2021. It goes over each of the Hololive Vtuber characters. We get a better look at their custom avatar art. Then, we get to see one of their signature attacks.

It begins with Fubuki Shirakami as Fubuking. She uses a Prinny Dance. Then, Rushia Uruha appears as the Succubus Ruusha. She uses a Shrink Step. Flare Shiranui is Torte, a Psychic. She performs a Psychic Blade Dance. Watame Tsunomaki is Watameh. Her Evil Eye performs Brutal Eye in the trailer. Finally, Polka Omaru portrays PolPol the Mage. She uses Elemental Burst in the video.

Here’s the full Disgaea 6 Hololive DLC trailer.

People can see Zed’s Super Reincarnation ability up close now. NIS America released the English (and French) version of the Disgaea 6 Switch demo on the eShop on May 25, 2021. In addition, there’s a new trailer to watch and pre-order discount for past NISA game owners.

With regards to the Disgaea 6 demo, people get the first chapters of the full game. Nothing is walled off. You can save your progress. When you do, you can then later take that file into the full game after it launches at the end of June 2021.

There’s also a new trailer showing off how the Disgaea 6 demo looks in English on the Switch.

As for the discount, Disgaea 6 is $53.99 if people already own one of nine other NISA Switch games. Here’s the full list of qualifying titles. Also, the 10% discount will be in effect until August 31, 2021.
